Owen turned 3!!!

Owen had his birthday last week! We had a fun little day, nothing too exciting, just lots of play time at home with mom and Laci.

This birthday sign has been in my family for as long as I can remember. I believe my Grandma Papa made it. My mom was just going to throw it away so I snatched it up and we're going to bring back the tradition of putting it up each year.

Here's his little present area, right out front in the living room so he could see it first thing. When he woke up and saw it and the birthday sign he looked at me all excited and said "What's that?!! Mom, my birthday came up?!" We've been counting down the days.

He got a new Mater toothbrush and a really cool remote control tractor.

The day before Owen's b-day is his cousin Dallen's. At his party Jenette had fun little party hats that Owen really liked, so as I was putting Owen to bed he asked if he was going to have a party hat to wear on his birthday. This is what I came up with. : ) He really like it but wasn't a huge fan of wearing it.
He requested waffles and watermelon for breakfast

Cute story (to me at least)
I said to Owen: "You get to have a birthday bath today!"
Owen: "I'm the birthday boy"
Mom: "Yep, so you get a birthday bath with lots and lots of bubbles.
Owen: "Umm...ummm...PLENTY?"
Mom: "With plenty of bubbles? Yes, a birthday bath with plenty of bubbles." : )
I was pretty impressed he came up with that word and new where to use it! What a smart boy I have. : )

My mom has wanted to make Owen a blanket for his soon to be here twin size bed. We picked out some material finally and she whipped this up before I could even help her. We both LOVE it! He has to sleep with it every night now, even when it's 80 degrees in our house. The outside edges are little baseballs.

I copied my sister-in-law's idea and made him his own race car track
I didn't really feel like making an entire cake or a bunch of cupcakes for our little family so I searched for an alternative idea. I found this fun idea from Martha Stewart online. It's a rice-crispy-treat road w/ cars n trucks. It's kinda hard to tell from the picture. Martha's had a few more embellishments, of course. He loves stop signs and lights right now! He points them out every time he sees one. Every time!

Owen is a really sweet boy, he loves to give kisses and big squeezes (hugs). My favorite time is when he wakes up because he'll sit and cuddle w/ me for a long time. He loves puzzles, tractors, race cars, monster trucks, fire trucks, police cars, ambulance, planes and helicopters.
Some of his favorite things to eat are mini wheats (almost every morning), peanut butter sandwiches, zucchini and corn on the cob from ours or grandpa's garden.
He loves to run outside and kick a ball, he's really starting to like baseball, and he loves to play with his friends!

Cute ideas! You and you mom are so talented. Fun memories to hand down that Grandma made the blanket special for him. Can't believe he's 3! Fun idea for the Krispie treats, very creative!

You are smart to keep that sign. I am in the process of making one. We had this cheapy thing I bought at the grocery store and it didn't make it in the move and the first thing Pacen asked when it was his birthday was, "Where's the birthday sign?"
