We had a pretty uneventful Halloween weekend. It rained a bunch most the day saturday, which is when we had our combined wards' trunk-or-treat. I'll get to that mess in a bit.
We woke up around 7 ish, then rushed to get to my nephew Kaden's soccer game in Paradise. It was pretty cold, but no rain until after the game was over luckily. My parents took us to the doughnut store (so delicious!!) and we had our healthy breakfast. Just the start of our candy and junk food filled day. Owen was so thrilled because they had a doughnut with green sprinkles! Green is his favorite color. Rob & I shared this yummy lemon filled one that was all powdered. I love doughnuts. I know they're sooo not healthy, but they can sure make you feel good. :) For a little while anyway.
After our breakfast we headed back down the hill to get ready for Rob's soccer game. I don't know if we've ever posted about it, but Rob's coaching an Under 6 team. Fun times!
It drizzled a tiny bit on us, nothing bad. His team lost, but they're technically not keeping score.
Then after an afternoon of just relaxing indoors, and watching the Giants lose, we got the kiddos ready for the trunk-or-treating. 3 is the best age for it I think! They finally start to get the concept.
Owen wanted to be robot this year. I showed him a picture of the cardboard kind that you make, and he said "I'm not going to wear that!!" So....i was stumped for a little while till my mom suggested I just draw a robot on a shirt. I had my dad draw it, then I used puffy paints to color it all in. We covered his baseball hat in tinfoil and put some silly antennaes on it. Not the coolest looking costume, but he really loved it.

Laci was a little cat. I couldn't believe it but she wore the headband all night! I'd been trying to get her used to it for weeks now and she'd only keep it on for 1-2 minutes before ripping it off.
We dressed up for trick or treating at Rob's work Thursday afternoon. The kids got a ton of candy...almost everyone at Rob's work had candy at their desks for employees' families to bring their kids in. Owen was shy for the first person, then he was eager to grab more than one piece of candy. Laci just hopped right in and followed Owen's lead.
Our trunk-or-treat was crazy jam packed. We had 4 wards combined and everybody and their dog showed up!!! You couldn't even walk through the hallways. The poor little kids were all scared because they couldn't see anything except legs and were getting pushed and shoved. We ended up only staying for about 30 min, which was too long. The kids still got a good amount of candy, and I've been helping them eat it all! I really should stop, but how can I when they got such yummy stuff like Kit Kat, Twix, Snickers and 3 Muskateer? All my favorites. What do you do with your extra candy? Just throw it away?

When my dad and I lived in Paradise, we went to Dolly-O's every weekend....I love that place too. Don't think I am too weird, but I freeze all of the kids candy and save it for Sophies birhday pinyeta in March....is that bad??
Throw away candy? You're crazy! haha
I love the idea of a tshirt for owen's costume. then he can wear it again.
I let Jack keep 20 of his favorite peices and the rest goes to the candy fair (aka: Dad's work). in exchange, he is left a little $5 toy. this is mostly for mom who has no control when it comes to candy in miniature form-esp snickers and peanutbutter cups.
you take it on a road trip to share with friends. haha!!!
Save 10 pieces and get the rest out of the house! That way when it's gone it's gone. Owen's t-shirt was really cool. And Laci was a very cute kitty!
My cousin has her kids pick out 7 pieces of candy, and then the rest is left on the porch for the "halloween witch" or fairy (can't remember which one it is) to pick up. The witch/fairy leaves them a toy in place of the candy! Brilliance! I think I'll do that next year!
