The funniest thing just happened to my mom and I while we were walking at the cemetery. (The cemetery is a wonderful place to walk! Lots of shade and some good hills too.)
Anyway, when we pulled up there were these 2 wild turkeys that were hanging out by our usual parking spot. Two of the cemetery workers were there and they used their leaf blowers to get them to move. I didn't think much about the turkeys until mom told me that just yesterday she saw an older woman walking when the turkeys "attacked her"! She was trying to shoo them away but they came after her! So now I'm a little scared of the turkeys.
We didn't want to walk in front of the birds so we went the opposite direction. On our way back we saw the turkeys down a bit from the cars so we hurried to get inside. As we approached my mom's car, which was closest, the turkeys started coming right toward us! I grabbed my kids and jumped into mom's car while she was still trying to put the stroller and bike into her trunk. I told her to hurry up 'cause the turkeys were coming around to the back of the car! She jumped in the drivers side and the turkeys had us surrounded. Mom honked at them and tried to drive them off but the didn't budge. We drove around for a bit and when we came back one of the turkeys was ON TOP of the hood of my car!!! I could not believe it! The other one was just chillin' in front watching it. We yelled some more and tried to shoo them away but they wouldn't budge. We ended up having to drive up the hill to get the worker men to come help us. They drove down in their little cart and the bigger of the two guys jumped out and got them to get off my car. Those turkeys sure were stubborn! They did not want to move!
I wish I had had my camera so I could prove that the stupid bird was on top of my car.
True story!

that is funny!!
and that is why I'm afraid of birds!!! I too have had a run in with wild turkeys. The herd, flock, family, gang (whatever they are)had me trapped in my car at my dad's house. There were about 20 of them...so scary.
That is too funny! You must have encountered the "mean" turkey gang...my parents have a group that lives on their property and they are pretty docile. They are practically pets! But yeah, it would be scary if they trapped you in the car! I am not really afraid of turkeys but geese--that's another story!
The turkeys are coming!
Too funny! Meg and I had a good giggle over your story.
