Gone Fishin...

On Saturday Owen and I went down to Bedrock Park where the Kiwanis club put on their annual "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" event. It's a great event that is free to any who would like to give their kids a taste of what fishing can be like...they're guaranteed to catch something:)

Kids 6 yrs old and under (and their eager Dad's) got to fish out of this big tank
that was loaded with rainbow trout.
I know, I know, he makes it look sooo easy:)
There's actually a lot of technique involved here; Owen has just the right amount of hold on to the rod, and you may notice that he has the rod tilted and twisted just a tad, that tricks the fish a little.

After a few minutes of intense concentration, Owen started to get a little distracted with all the other kids catching their fish...
when all of a sudden his pole pulled and his fish came splashing out of the water.
He got really excited when I was holding the slippery trout in my hand and he got to touch it for the first time. The fish was moving frantically, which excited Owen even more.
Here we are...two pro anglers now:)
